March 15, 2010 - Comsis And Télécom Bretagne Deliver MIMO Equipment To The French Ministry Of Defense

The French Ministry of Defense have received the wireless datacom equipment jointly developed by Comsis and Télécom Bretagne. This radio system was specified by the armed forces to enable high-speed, high-reliability wireless communications on the digital battlefield. The Microwave Department of Télécom Bretagne was in charge of the radio subsystem, while Comsis adapted their MIMO space-time coding on a modified version of their MimoKit hardware platform. The outcome is an high-performance piece of equipment capable of simultaneous data transfer, video and voice streaming under harsh channel conditions.

Dr Daniel Bourreau, Associate Professor at Télécom Bretagne and Lead Engineer on this project commented: "We are very happy to hand this product over to the customer. It is the result of a complete radio design conducted within our Microwave lab, and illustrates the capabilities and leadership of Télécom Bretagne in this area."

Philippe Leclair, CEO of Comsis added: "This military radio equipment demonstrates that the MIMO space-time algorithms developed by Comsis not only excel at consumer applications like Wi-Fi and WiMax. The communication system is now in the hands of its intended users and has entered an extensive qualification phase on the field.
