August 06, 2013 – Comsis introduce a an high-speed vehicular communication platform.

A new vehicle communication solution has just been announced by Comsis. This new platform supports high mobility applications for the forthcoming ITS (Intelligent Transport System). It  is operating on a Comsis MimoKit hardware integrating a patented High-Speed Vehicle Communication system based on a customized IEEE 802.11p IP.

V2I-V2V

As a new member in the IEEE 802.11 family, the IEEE 802.11p is used as a basis of ITS for V2I (Vehicle-To-Infrastructure) and V2V (Vehicle-To-Vehicle) communication to create DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). This best portable generator technology helps to build cost-efficient vehicle communication systems with high reliability and real-time capability.

Comsis has tested its high-speed vehicle communication platform at the Versailles-Satory test field to demonstrate Valeo’s V2I (Vehicle-To-Infrastructure) application. With speed in excess of to 170km/h, communications between the high-speed OBU (On-Board Unit) and the static RSU (Road-Side Unit) could be established in a very short time for information reporting, short messages exchange and images downloading/uploading. Currently, the solution provides an effective V2I coverage of 150 meters with a 7 dBm transmit power. The communication range can be extended by increasing the transmit power.

The custom IEEE 802.11p IP with High-Speed Vehicle support is available now for academic development or industrial products.

Features:

  • Licensed ITS band operation (5.85 GHz – 5.925 GHz)
  • 7 available channels with 10 MHz bandwidth
  • Ethernet connectivity
  • and much more

This work has been done with the sponsorship of Région Île-de-France and the collaboration of Valeo, CitiLog, Ifsttar, and Navecom.
